Listing sort order in categories:
There are 3 classes
of listings: Featured
Listings which are always on top; Reciprocal Listings (with a
star) which come next; and regular listings come last.
Within the 3 classes of listings named above, sites are
ordered first by those sites that have some sort of rating
(votes). A secondary factor is alphabetical by title. The
voting code rewards webmasters that have submitted a site
and place a voting code prominently on their pages.
The Classes
Explained:
Featured Listings:
are sponsored. The site owner has elected to pay US$00.10
(10 cents) per day to have their site appear at the very
beginning of the category. The sites that get the most
clicks are definitely those at the very top of the first
page in a category. Understand that Featured listing are
already accepted in the directory, sponsorship just boosts
them to the very top of the category for some extra
exposure. Once the money runs out the listing returns to
it's normal status - it remains listed in the directory.
Featured listing is handy for authors or publishers
launching a new book or game and want some premium exposure
for a couple of months or those who just want to help
support Scifimatter. Featured listings are also handy for
shopping sites that want premium placement but do not want
to link back to Scifimatter and might have little HipRank.
Reciprocal
Listings: these are the sites that have a star next
to them. They have chosen to link back to Scifimatter
Directory from a page on their site. This helps other
people find Scifimatter and we give them a higher ranking
listing as a thank you. Linking back to Scifimatter is
always optional and not required to get listed.
Regular listings:
these are standard listings in our directory. All listings
are free.
These are just the defaults. Each category has a control
that lets you resort the listings in a way you prefer (ie.
alphabetical etc.)
